Syncrude Canada Adopts InterPlan Systems’ Project Planning Solution

Houston, TX — Sep. 10, 2007 - InterPlan Systems Inc., today announced that Syncrude Canada, is the world’s largest producer of crude oil from oil sands and the largest single source producer in Canada, is deploying InterPlan Systems’ eTaskMaker project planning software within its refineries. The rollout will provide the technology framework to create standard processes for estimating, planning and scheduling all maintenance projects.

Syncrude Canada had previously used a variety of business processes for planning project work, including manual, non-computerized efforts. However, the company has committed itself to enforcing standardized business processes in order to improve best practices and its competitive edge. Overhauling planning and estimating processes was considered crucial to the success of this initiative, and after evaluating solutions from several leading vendors, Syncrude Canada opted for InterPlan Systems’ powerful planning tools.

eTaskMaker Module Updates for September

September 11th, 2007

InterPlan Systems has released the following updated eTaskMaker estimating modules:

  • Pipe - Field Erection (Rev. 8) - (updated) Minor update to the estimating formula(s).
  • Unit Start-Up Milestones - (new) This modules provides convenient milestones for the start-up sequence of a plant unit or for a plant. Different unit systems are identified, which provide logical connection points to the multitude of work orders in a turnaround schedule, to make critical path analysis more meaningful, by prioritizing correctly all work to ensure a smooth start-up of the plant. The module can be customized for every particular plant or unit, by including more detailed tasks and additional systems, as desired.
  • Turnaround Planning and Scheduling Effort - (new) This module estimates and plans the effort involved in planning and scheduling the major equipment f0r a turnaround using eTaskMaker and ATC Professional.

InterPlan Systems Announces Free Project Planning Seminar in August

Houston, TX, June 28, 2007 — InterPlan Systems today announced a free training seminar set for Thursday, August 23rd for their eTaskMaker project planning software. The seminar will be conducted by Dick Ertl, President of InterPlan Systems and the developer of eTaskMaker’s estimating and planning knowledge base (also known as meta-templates).

The session, from 9am until noon, will demonstrate how to use the eTaskMaker Wizard, including:

  • How to create project plans and export them into project scheduling systems
  • How to create complex work scopes involving multiple pieces of ancillary equipment
  • How to create extra work orders for discovery items during a turnaround
  • How to create routine maintenance work orders
  • How to create and maintain a practical and efficient catalog of estimating modules
  • How how to make global (manpower/duration) adjustments for local productivity
  • How how to customize the estimating modules
  • How how to use work sheets for background data collection
  • How to prepare comprehensive turnaround budget estimates, resource requirements, critical path schedule duration verification, etc.

The seminar will be held at the Houston Business Roundtable’s conference center across from Hobby Airport. Snacks/refreshments will be provided. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required to guarantee a seat.

We have posted updates for the eTaskMaker Wizard and Module Editor to the eTaskMaker software downloads repository. eTaskMaker clients may now log in to the download area and download the update.

The release addresses several issues with the eTaskMaker Module Editor and a text file with release notes is included in the distribution.

Qatar Chemical Company Adopts InterPlan Systems’ Turnaround Management System

Houston, TX — Oct. 11, 2007 - InterPlan Systems Inc., today announced that Qatar Chemical Company (Q-Chem) is deploying InterPlan Systems’ ATC Professional project management software across all of its chemical plants. The rollout will provide the technology framework to effectively schedule, track and manage all shutdown and turnaround maintenance projects across the organization.

Q-Chem had previously used other scheduling tools for managing turnaround projects. However, the company has committed itself to using advanced tools and systems in order to improve best practices and its competitive edge. Q-Chem opted for InterPlan Systems’ proven system.

Huge Success at the 2007 NPRA Reliability and Maintenance Conference

June 11th, 2007

InterPlan Systems had a very successful showing at the recent NPRA Reliability and Maintenance Conference and Exhibition. Traffic to our booth in the exhibit hall was several times greater than any previous show. We even had visitors requesting demonstrations and information during the Charlie Daniels Band concert at the end of the show!

We also conducted a turnaround track presentation on Standardizing and Improving Best Practices in Estimating and Planning (see link for the Powerpoint slide show for the presentation) that drew a large crowd and numerous compliments.

We would like to thank everyone who stopped by our booth or attended our presentation. We look forward to seeing everyone in San Antonio in 2008.

InterPlan Systems has released updated eTaskMaker estimating modules for all heat exchanger inspection and testing. The update includes better definition of the hydrotesting and draining activities.

A new update for ATC Professional is now available from the the client download repository that includes a few minor bug fixes and several new enhancements. Full details on the update are available for clients in the ATC Updates (.PDF) document.
